Learn more about the CEO of GoldieBlox.

Early Life:

Sterling was born in Los Angeles on February 26, 1983. She found appeal in combining skills in art, design, mechanics and physics in order to tackle and solve complex problems. In 2005, Sterling graduated with a Bachelors in Engineering & product design from Stanford University. She later went on to work as designer, volunteered abroad and got a job making jewelry. During a “Idea Brunch” that she hosted monthly, the idea for GoldieBlox emerged from a discussion about the lack of women in engineering.

GoldieBlox:

Sterling founded GolidBlox in 2012. It is a media and entertainment company that brings STEM to young girls. They educate and empower young girls by creating engaging content, fun toys and interesting resources that are designed to develop early interest in engineering and build confidence in problem-solving. Their mission is to close the gender gap by combining their unique STEAM + FUN formula to get more girls interested in engineering.

Their website, https://goldieblox.com/, has all their products, various downloadables for various projects, links to their youtube playlists with girls teaching new STEM related things or projects that they worked on, and a ongoing blog discussing various STEM topics, projects and influential people in hopes of inspiring the younger audience.
